Varsity Player Spotlight: #8 Alexa Pothoven

Alexa Pothoven has been a part of Dublin Scioto High School Girls Volleyball Team since her freshman year. She played at Davis Middle School for two years under coach Paula Yates. Alexa helped lead her freshman team to a first place finish in the OCC with her kills and Aces. She started out playing outside hitter and in subsequent years moved into a defensive specialist position. Alexa has played for the Kaepa Buckeye club for the past few years under Coach Todd Huff. Her team finished in the top 10 this year at regionals. Alexa has played on the varsity team since her sophomore year and has been a strong defender as well as a powerful server. A career highlight for her would be the game she served 14 points in a row, most of which were aces. In 2011 Alexa became the Libero for the team and earned All-Conference honorable mention award from the OCC. Alexa has not finalized her decision as to where she will go to college. She is hopeful she will get to play volleyball in college and is planning on studying Sports medicine or physical therapy. Most people don’t know Alexa was born in the Bronx, NY and she is a very good artist. She is great leader and has been a strong role model this year for the underclassmen as Captain of the team.
